Volkswagen Vehicle Processing Facility

Overview

In collaboration with Port Freeport, Volkswagen Group of America (VWGoA), KDC, and Stewart Development embarked on a groundbreaking expansion project to establish a new operational hub consolidating their Gulf Coast logistics. The project was completed in early 2024. This initiative enables VWGoA to import 140,000 vehicles annually.

The project involved developing a 124.19-acre tract into a vehicle import and processing facility, including asphalt paving for approximately 14,385 vehicles, 180 employee parking spaces, rail, and truck hauling positions. Additionally, the construction encompassed three new rail turnouts with switches, a general MDO/Parts Building, a PQT/Body Shop Building, a Car Wash Building, two Prefabricated Trucker’s Office Buildings, and one Prefabricated Security Guard Shack.
